This photo is of the confluence of the Nicola River, or Nkemci'n River
meeting the Thompson River.
Way back in history, probably the mid 1800's, before the trains plowed
through the valley, there were 2 villages, one on each side of the Nkemci'm
and this place was a significant gathering place where we'd feast, have the
first salmon of the new year, have inter-tribal meetings and agreements
between other nations, have games and all sorts of things.
Either a rattlesnake or a gopher snake, depending on how you view
the patterns, about 3 and a half feet long and this was in
Peterson Creek, Kamloops.
