re: sunday bloody sunday......

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

it's 5 in the morning, closer to 6 am now actually, and i've been up getting coffee ready, doing regular things on a sunday morning. i've got a bunch of plants started to have my patio garden, the usual, tomotoes, snap peas, beans, herbs like oregano, sweet basil and the like. even some strawberry plants. some trees, i think they're douglas fir, i'm going to plant with my kids, so they'll have something like a legacy project to keep checking as time goes on when i'm gone.

life is good, i've got work to do, for some reason i was remembering some time on the road, and sitting in a pub in cache creek b.c., it was empty, the afternoon and i was shooting pool by myself listening to crappy country music, chatting up the female bartender. asking her about the town, what where the busy nights, and how it was going?

regulars streamed in, mostly retirees just waiting and running down the clock, having a pint with tomatoe juice, watching sports updates or playing keno.

the hills surrounding it are beautiful, actually, one of my favourite drives is from hope to kamloops on the transcanada. the scenery is amazing. i suggest you do it sometime. anyway, highland valley copper is the big employer in that town, as well as ashcroft, and they'll disappear when the mine closes in some 20 years. ghost towns. you pass through a lot of them when you drive across canada.

well, i gotta go, i've got a shitload of new digital art waiting to be finished, and i'm experimenting and having fun with drawing, painting and the like. dirty hands are hard working hands.

in the meantime, i've got music to make as well, firing on all cylinders these days and i'm gonna burn it bright. i have a new gibson explorer, and i'm going to make that guitar sing and scream. i will post a video later of me messing around on it. haha.

all the bets,

re: metal!

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i just got back from a blitzkrieg trip to vancouver, and it was fun, but those less than 24 hour trips are taking their toll. considering 11 of those hours are traveling. lame-cakes.

but it was for the Ghost/Mastodon/Opeth show at the Orpheum and it fcuking heavy metal!

it was awesome, even though, the Orpheum should not have metal shows because you cannot go crazy and mosh, so you're stuck in your seat for the whole show! yeah! i barely broke a sweat headbanging. it's weird standing their headbanging. it was slightly surreal, and i filmed some of it actually. haha.

anyway, the show was good, and Opeth were so awesome. great onstage banter and interaction with the crowd. i've noticed over the years that frontmen are either like Phil from DOWN/Pantera, screaming interaction, or like the dude from Opeth, calm, cool and collected, but hilarious as well.

check it.
