Smoldering ruins

Running through the forest

At night

Beneath the stars

Driving down a highway

Looking up at the moon

Stereo blasting away

The cold wind on your face

The city behind in the

Rear view mirror

Getting smaller and smaller

Moving through the night

Towards the darkness

One more time

That’s the world for me

And I will do anything

I can

To continue moving

Towards the sun.

Dear friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i'm down on vancouver island, and it's amazing.......my long term goal is to live down here........i just love the salish sea so much........the life, the vitality, and the fresh air........plus, the sunrises and sunsets are incredible........i miss it when i'm away, but i feel i have work to do in the interior for now.........

anyway, i took this photo at 7 am this morning......there was a chill in the air, but it was quite amazing and i had to tough it out........i have many amazing shots........from this morning..........

nearly finished my "Jesus Coyote TeeVee"............it's consuming me, all my time when i'm not working......but it's going to ROCK!!!!!!

re: new 3D camers!!!!

hello friends, lovers and the like,

so, yesterday, i happened to be in the right place at the right time and got to play with brand new, right out of the box 3D cameras!!!!

my plan is to make a film ASAP and be the first Native to make a short film in 3D and load it up on this very website!!!!

if not, well, the plan was there! ha ha!

we'll see what happens, they just got the cameras out of the box when i got there, and i, of course, snatched them up and made for the doorway.....once the taser effect wore off, i got up and apologized.....KIDDING!!

anyway, have a look see at the various cameras that are out on the market already!

keep ya posted kids, my art and films are about to get ten times weirder!!!!

re: the road......don't miss it........

after spending the better part of the past four or five years on the road, i was recently asked if i miss it......

no.

plus, i'm still on the road, it's just that i'm only jumping on a plane once a month to go do something, instead of 5 times or more.......

i'm really enjoying my time at the Alternator Centre for Contemporary Art.........the change is good.......

sorry i've been away, i haven't posted anything because i've been consumed by my guitar again, and learning new songs, as well as finally figuring out how to create and portray "Jesus Coyote TeeVee"......it'll be ready soon, so i've been doing other creative mediums.......

i'll be posting some stuff soon.......

i recently did an interview on cbc radio, and here's the podcast audio portion of it.........

it aired on January 16, on CBC show North By NorthWest with host Sheryl Mackay, and it was kinda trippy, coz i always wanted to be on that show, but never thought it'd happen........

life is a strange journey, i remember 7 years ago, i was a luddite farm labourer working in an organic farm field, jaded and bitter......thinking that life had given me a raw deal........then i had a strange epiphany, i won't go into the details now, but i had a conversation with a young dude, that changed my life, and after that i swore i'd never get to that point ever again.......and have been digging myself out of a hole ever since.......

in many ways yes, in some ways, no, ha ha!

in any case, i keep moving on towards the future and keep working towards some sort of state of grace.....even if it only lasts moments.......

re: my first artwork of the new year!

Greetings friends, fans, lovers, fighters, foe and the like,

i have called this piece, "Kamloops if F**King Evil" for a variety of reasons. none of which i'll disclose for you, as you have not likely lived there. suffice it to say, i've had some very challenging times there, and do not regret leaving, but it's like an ex, it'll always be there, it'll have strings attached and it won't always be a functional relationship, but to say i've survived is reward enough for me.........

so, off to a great start in the new year, with a new artwork finally, a new job, and a new city that's treating me just FINE! i wish the best to you in this New Year, and hope you get whatever it is you would like.....and i hope you survived the holidays in time for more abuse! ha ha!

life is good people, never forget that.........even when it sucks!

ps: i made it overtly devvvvlish for no particular reason, but after i had finished it, remembered, it was originally going to be a send up about former minister of Culture/Art/Prisons Kevin Krueger, but then realize, the women were beautiful, and he was not, and decided to change the piece entirely........plus on the piece i did a few posts ago, with the pope upside down, someone remarked that "they got it," and it reflected satan or religion upside like an upside cross.......i could only reply, "if only that's what i really meant!" but i didn't, i just thought the pope looked scary and put him upside down......which shows you how art is about personal interpretation, based upon personal experiences, which is how people tend to validate art in the first place............

re: a new year! 2011 has begun!!!!

Greetings friends, fans, foe, lovers and the like,

a new decade is upon us, in a century that is still quite young........where are the flying cars and star trek like transporters? where is the utopia of boundless energy and a perfect society where no one goes without? oh yeah, we're human, and at times, greedy, petulant, short-sighted, war like and arrogant.......which makes it easy to forget we're compassionate, caring, and at times, do share!

anyways, what will the new year bring? 

when i started this blog two years ago, i had no idea what would happen or where it out take me.......all i wanted to do was create my own art and post it every day.............it's been a hell of a trip, and i am grateful for it........life is good when you become empowered!!!!

so now what? well, let's not be coy or subtle.........i want cash, lots of it, and i would like funding to be restored to arts in british columbia in a big way. and jesus coyote wants a giant boombox to kick it old school! and i want more people to get into steampunk.........so grab your aviator goggles kiddies, and let's travel down a road that is infinitely wide and at times, without direction, i believe it's going to be a kickass year!!!

re: art update and such......

hi friends, fans, lovers, foe and the like......

here's a sneak sample into how i do my art, or at least, one style of my art..........this is basically how my work begins, i start with a base image, or an idea, and then begin layering art around it until a theme develops or something visual i love comes through and tells a story......as you can see, this next piece, about Kevin Krueger, former axe man to the bc ministry for arts/culture/prisons and how i feel about him.

it has 17 layers so far, and will take quite a few hours to pull the idea/image through!

in the meantime,  stumbled across an unpublished poem, and thought it would be great fun to post it, sort encapsulates a lot of my life and travels so far.......

To board a jet

Filmmaking

And creative arts

I meet them

At functions

And note how many

The yellow nicotine saturated air

The cheap beer and loud pounding music

in a variety of pubs

Meeting up with the crazy, love starved

Hungry, manic energy

Of the city

And when we bump into

One another at various airports

we exchange cordial greetings
and then I watch them make a scene when the plane

Is delayed

Or text angrily on their phones

While I count my blessings

And feel genuinely fortunate

To even be here in the first place

And wait for another sundown

In another city

here's a new artwork i did, actually, i worked on a couple over the last few days, but didn't post them......

the one above is about a beautiful 72 buick i loved and lost..........

the below image is about a lot of things i won't even bother to explain.......except tell you the burlesque dancer was a still i took from some 1930's film i found at a wicked cool site called:

and i've been wanting to use it for some time............

in the meantime, i'm packing up my place and getting ready to head to kelowna, bc, and it's kinda sad, to once again be packing stuff, throwing it into storage, and moving on.......but this is a really positive move, and a smart one..........

ha ha i picked a bad time to stop smoking tobacco! as i pack stuff up, i am flooded with memories of time i spent with my kids at my place, some fun dinner parties i had, it sucks giving up the place, but it has been an albatross around my neck since i've had it! very expensive, and i've never really been around much to enjoy it a whole lot! i was gone about three weeks every month, so it felt like i was paying a grand a month for a week long stint at my house........

though, it was nice to give my kids some stability, a place they always knew would be there.......

as for now, i once find myself at chapter's in kamloops, as i have done so often, writing and reflecting.....i think this place is comforting to me, in a world where i have always been on the road, or traveling or on the move, there are few constants for me......this is one place i have, and it's anonymous, and loaded with decent books on art and design.......

even though, as a published author, i've staunchly refused to read at them! ha ha! weird?!

hoping you've had a great holiday season, mine was surreal as usual, not because of anything i ingested, but more because of the fact i've realized i'm not really close to my family, not really close to anyone but my children......and that can make for lonely holidays when they're not around........so i've made a pledge to have a great holiday season next year, with loads of friends and family around for a big solstice feast and giveaway!!!

well, that's about enough navel gazing, here's to the end of a great year, and the start of a fabulous new one!!!
