re: strangest clouds.....

here's a pic of some weird clouds i saw over saskatchewan........it went as far as the eye could see......and the flight was unbelievably smooth........

it's entitled the "Skulls" simply coz it seemed to fit.....the theme......

or i could have called it the brotherhood of doom.......

either way, i'm happy with it, and can't wait to print it out large format.......

doing a gig tonight, at an art gallery called "neutral ground", so if you're in the hood, do come and check it out!

anyway, i'm in Calgary, Alberta at the airport, and just when i thought all airports are the same, giant, cavernous, dark places of flight transportation.....i saw with my laptop and realized, this one is different, in that it finally offers FREE WI-FI !!!!! Man, that is soooooo nice to have, otherwise, i'd be bored and sitting at Margarita's sipping on some fine beverages......watching sports, and waiting for the next flight!!

instead, i'm nerding out with you, updating my info ha ha!!!

i'm excited at this opportunity to work with the peeps at Sakewewak, and can't wait to get down to the business of ART.......and don't fool yourself kiddies.....this is a business........

as i mentioned previously, i just watched the Banksy film "Exit through the Giftshop" a great film about the weird, wild and unpredictable world of art and i encourage you to check it out.......it shows a lot of the "Street' Do It Yourself ethos of the world art, pretty much where i'm from, and it's a cool perspective!!!

so, here's a picture from my flight......which was the smoothest one i've had all year leaving Kamloops.........hell, even landing in Calgary this time was a breeze..........best flight i've had in a long time.......

re: the falling man.......

today is the ninth anniversary of the attacks on the world trade center buildings........i'll never forget that day, i got up around 7 a.m. and was making coffee, listening in disbelief to what the cbc radio was telling me.......that the buildings were under attack and were ablaze......

within a few moments, my friend graham called me up and told me to get over here, i'll never forget what he said, "you gotta get over here man, america's going down!" i poured my coffee in a travel mug and ran down the alley a block to his house......i got there just as one of the planes slammed into the towers......it was unbelievable to stare at and watch.......it felt like we were trapped in some horrible movie......we sat there drinking our coffee and just transfixed by what was going on.......

and then there was the eerie week afterward, where no planes were allowed to fly for six or seven days until they sort of figured out what was going on.......that's also something i'll never forget, the silence, the strange calm in the days after........the skies were spooky clear, no jets or planes at all, well, except for the random military plane flying over.........everything seemed super sharp, the crisp fall air, the endless blue skies and the numb, shocked silence that our world was attacked in ways we never thought possible......

civility was gone, and i've realized since then that take away our electricity, our grocery stores and gasoline, and north america will fall back a couple of centuries in the space of a month.......we have such a tenuous hold on this perceived thing we call "reality."

anyway, for some reason, this date was on my mind more than it has been since it happened......that was a strange year for me, 2001, and now as we pass another year marking this horrific day, i am aware that as bad as it gets, things really aren't that bad......it's simply a matter of perspective......

hence the image of the falling man........google him, and you'll see and learn some things about him.....

what was going through his mind in those last seconds?

we'll never know, only speculate........

take care of your loved ones, be with the ones you love, and be thankful i guess is all i can say on a day like today........

hello friends, foe, lovers, haters, family, and the like,

i'm now online, and have a telephone once again!

it feels great to be reconnected from the convenience of my own home once again, to the outside world.....

i watched that banksy film today, "exit through the giftshop" or something like that, and thought it was quite brilliant. it shows an interesting side to the art world most people never see.......and mr. brainswash is an interesting character......


the artworld itself is strange, i'm not a fan of it, but i make art and live as an artist, so it's good to see someone else get it right....

there's always so much to learn, and no one to teach you! ha ha! the school of hardknocks.....but it definitely showed i'm either on the right path, or i'm crazy!

you be the judge, nah, don't judge me! ha ha!

for better or worse, i'm an artist, and that's how i make my living......now i just need to make more of it! ha ha! not a grant driven artist either, i make my way doing what i do with the help of others, doing gigs, readings, art shows, commissions, video stuff, workshops and whatnot......it's a good life, and i'm making art like mad again......

sometimes, i look around and go, 'jeez, i've sacrificed so much to get here, and then there's a stretch of lonely nights that can haunt anyone......" but i somehow survive.......things keep getting better, life is a gift, so make the most of it.......

i'll be traveling again in a few days, i love flying, and i love traveling and meeting people, seeing new places, and collaborating on art/music/video projects.......it's the whole reason i do this......i could tour forever, i love it so much.........

always heading for that next sunrise, the ocean breeze, cool and clear..... that night full of stars in the back country, that long stretch of highway where few cars go past you.......listening to the AM radio late at night as you drive, hearing the stations from all over canada and the states......pulling into a new city, getting ready for a gig, a reading, a show, a workshop, a conference......something, anything......meeting people, affecting their lives in a positive way, that's why i do this......

i'm well, getting ready to hit the road the next few weeks.....going to regina, saskatchewan and then onto toronto, ontario.......both have to do with filmmaking and digital arts.......

in the meantime, i keep promising to upload new video, and i will!

getting a new internet connection and telephone this week, so i'll be able to upload new stuff over the coming weekend.......

reading a lot of different stuff lately, slightly nerdy stuff about nicolai tesla, and artist alex grey........and pirates! ha ha!

the weather gets cooler, fall is here, summer is on the way out, and we all get ready for it.......
