re: reworks in progress....
hell-o winners, sinners, lovers, leapers and strangers,
thanks for dropping by, i'm gong to be really pushing myself as an artist this year, i need to develop new techniques, as well, i need to figure out an exciting way to display my art in exhibitions besides printing them up, framing them, and slapping them on a wall. i mean, why go to all this trouble making crazy art and displaying it the same old traditional way. i need to build machines. make each one an experience.
well, my goal is to post something every day this year, let's see if i make it!
hope all is well in your world, things are just fine in mine.
cheers,
cb

re: occult + the cult = southern death cult
hell-o friends, fans, foe and lovers,
i hope all is well in your galactic worlds. things are busy in mine, but i'm happier that way. when i was younger, uhm, much younger, i used to think that haggard, worn out cliche, "live fast die young," was cool.
well, now that dying didn't happen early, i'm much happier being alive. haha.
plus, technology caught up to what i see in my head, versus, what i could technically accomplish on my own. now i can make the art i want, play the music i want and make the films i want without having to be a millionaire.
not that i don't want to be a millionaire, because hey, let's face it, if anyone of us was given the option to be a millionaire, i don't think we'd turn down that opportunity. some of us would buy stupid, status symbol, expensive crap, i'd buy art supplies. and guitars.
haha.
well, this latest occult image that i've been working on, one of many, is an homage to cheesy 1970's occult movie posters. ah the 1970's, so bad, and so good simultaneously. i was just a wee kid back then, and i listened to AC/DC, Led Zep, Black Sabbath, KISS, Jimi Hendrix, Ted Nugent and the first Def Leppard album. my favourite album was "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." i was a headbanger back then, i'm a headbanger now. my dad listened to those albums, and i remember looking at the album art, and wondering "wow, what made them make such crazy album covers?"
sadly, this is something i think is lost in our modern age, unless you count video game covers as the new "album" for kids to check out. lame-cakes.
but i remember the Merritt theatre always had posters and i would also check'em out, and i loved the beautiful women in the 1970's posters, they were hot, busty and scantily clad. what boy or perhaps even girl wouldn't like those posters?!?!
(people with a rant about sexism, exploitation and other important issues, please feel free to leave now.)
so, there you go, the inspiration behind this image, which isn't finished, but it'll do for now.
all the beast,
cb

re: more art.
hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,
here is some new art, i love the way people try to minimize what i do when they are jealous, "oh it's photoshop art," or, "oh, photomontage stuff, huh?" like it's that easy to do. a lot of my art is visual metaphors for the 7 deadly sins, or filled with heavy occult symbolism, or historical symbolism, and it's the culmination of 2 decades of art knowledge coursing through my veins. i don't just "whip" these off, some take a very long time to do, and some don't, just like painting or other more traditional means of artwork. i shudder to think what people said to Carl Beam's face when he was doing his stuff, which was greatly influential on my work. i just took it in other directions.
anyways, i'm busy as hell, and i like it.
the boom is here, so time to hit it.
all the bets,
cb

re: happy fcuking valentines.....
hello lovers,
and a fine how do you do, and happy valentines to you toooooooooooooo?!?!?!!!!!!!
there are many funderful things happening in the jesus coyote bose world and they are a secret.
or secretion. i'm not sure.
probably both.
in the meantime, i've realized it's valentines, i made some art, and am reading my david choe book i ordered two weeks ago, but saw this past friday when i was in vancity.
it's dope. we've got a lot in common. living life hard, making art every day, non-stop traveling, touring, workshops, mayhem, insanity, and pushing it and everyone around you to their absolute limits. unfortunately, some cave and are usspays, which is fine, better to weed out the weak than let them bring down the hungry.
sure, i've had "growing pains" the past couple years adjusting to the unbelievable freedom of being a 'professional artist,' but who wouldn't once you are allowed, able and ready to cast off the shackles thrust upon all of us once we reach the "allowable and legal working age," in our society? you would too.
anyways, life is good, it's always good, even when it's not. better being alive then dead.
and in that spirit, here's some valentines day art for you.
funny thing is, Rasputin looks an awful lot like my buddy AEM.......
it shall remain a secret.
until next time lovers, beware!

re: squidy mcgee......
hell friends, fans, foe and lovers,
ahhh, i need to lighten up, relax, not think soooooooooooo much, or, shut the fcuk up and make more art and write and do what i'm good at, instead of navel gazing. if that was something i could do for more than 10 minutes.
let's face it, i feel isolated, you feel isolated, we all feel isolated. but what are we really going to do about it?
do you live in a community where ART is seen as a hobby, past time or what have ye?
or, are you surrounded by people who make a living at art and are actively pursuing a career in art, without the usual backstabbing douchebaggery involved in the waaaaay too dramatic art world?
sigh, i guess i'm looking for shangri-la really.
in the meantime, i actually feel pretty fcukin' good and am actively writing and making new art and shutting my fcuking mouth.
so, in that spirit, enjoy this new nautical sea-creature based work, and see you in hell motherfcukers!!!!
Muhahahahahahahahahahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ahem.
cheers squidies!

re: getting there.....
hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,
finally getting over the pneumonia that has plagued me the past couple months. the last time i went to the doctor, last week, i was prescribed some inhalers, and they are working miracles. my lungs are clearing up, and i'm feeling much better. finally turning the corner on other things too, hope all is well in your world.
here's a new work, it's something i've been working on. it has to do with my illness, and length of time i was ill. but there are other things i'm doing too. some new writing, and hopefully a new film.
to pass the time, i'm watching the series "dexter" finally, after people have been ranting and raving about it for years. so far, so good, it's actually pretty good. i'm rarely fast-forwarding it, usually, i find that a series gets boring and i fast forward through them. nice. well, i've got to go, here's the new work and such.
take care lovers,
cb.

re: vancity show
happy new years friends, fans, foe and lovers,
i spent the past week in Vancity, as i've had a show at the UNIT/PITT gallery in 15 East Pender, as well a book launch in conjunction with the show. my good friend Cease Wyss curated the show at the gallery, and was a super awesome host, taking me around the city, showing me cool art and giving me a annotated sense of the history of vancity. it's been awesome, got to spend more time on the rez in North Van, and check out the community garden she's got going on on her reserve.
so, it's been a great week for my headspace and the show was great fun, the launch went super, a lot of people made it, and i also read at Cafe De Soleil on commercial drive with my good friend Anthony Metvier, who added a performance art element to his reading by destroying his book at the end of it. haha, it was awesome.
well, a lot of people really helped out, and i'd like to thank Keith Higgens at the UNIT/PITT Gallery, Cease Wyss for curating it, my friends many who made it to the launch and were great sports and good to see, as well as everyone else who made it to the show!
i've included some photos for you to enjoy,
cheers,
cb.

re: skateboard colour options.....
hello friends, fans, foe and lovers, as well as drinkers, sinners, gamblers and the like....
so, i'm sick at home with pneumonia, want to go out, know that if i do, it could get worse. feeling about 6 out of 10, like i might have mentioned earlier, i felt like 0 on the weekend.
anyways, listening to "Alexisonfire" album "Old Crowes and Young Cardinals," and love it!
inspired to do some skate art, which i want to have my own skate decks and apparel, but also a "jesus coyote" gambling kit. you know, deck of cards, table, chips, mugs and the like.
in the meantime, i've worked on these mock ups this afternoon of some deck ideas. I mean, the options are limitless, coz the colours of my art can be manipulated soooooooo easily!!! and endlessly!!
wait, didn't i just say that, see, i'm not all there yet. ugh.
in the meantime, enjoy!
the one deck series below could be called "everything goes to hell anyways."

ps: here's the album cover for the band i love right this moment, especially the song "young cardinals," coz i feel like an old crow in some ways, and i watch the young cardinals rising all around me, and i even got me own turn in at the hat. bastardos.
great band, pity they broke up, i think it's coz dallas's band and chin got too big to be in the band.

greetings fiends, friends, fans and lovers, ex's too.......(i know you stalk me from time to time....!)
been working on new art, as well as working, i'll include a photo or two of what i've been doing when not doing art or what have ye....
well, i don't feel like talking much, other than to enjoy this new image, it's called "New Maps of Hell"
which i thought was such a peppy upbeat little title, don't you think?
oh yeah, just started re-reading and examining the "sandman dustcovers," and still can't figure out how dave mckean did what he did back in the early 1990's on those old G3 macs......wonder what he's able to do today with modern technology? kick my ass probably. bastard.
enjoy?

re: dubious equinox silence
hello friends, fans, foe, lovers and the like,
how are you? how have things been lately? things are well on my end, a little slow in some ways, in others very busy. life is good, what can i say?
i'm back at art again, and it feels really awesome to be doing it once more. i even read at a local poetry open mic night! that was great, it has been a long time to have read at such an event, and, to see people reading for the love it was fantastic. i'll be going back every two weeks for it, now i'm on the prowl for an open mic jam night, i've recorded about 25 new songs the past couple months, and next year is going to kick ass.
being an artist, a "professional" artist is rewarding, sometimes boom and bust, but the time, or freedom i have is incredible. i've been trying to get out of my house more often because too much time in the mancave gets a little stale, a little crazy, so human interaction is the cure to the insanity that inevitably come with time away from everyone.
well, i've got a show coming up soon with the Ullus Collective, and i'll keep you posted on the details.
thanks for stopping by, will hopefully get some more art up the next couple days,
cheers,
CB

re: galactic lies, fables, bullshit and transmutations
Greetings friends, fans, foe, lovers and the like,
I made this artwork tonight in my lonely little motel room in penticton, while listening to Mastodon's albums "Blood Mountain" and "Leviathan."
NDN country needs some fucking heavy metal, yeah, the 3 or 4 famous NDN boys can play the blues, but i want some sludgy fucking riffs and pounding fucking drums and screaming vocals. Something nice and heavy, while I listen to the people outside partying on the patio, muscle cars roared up the street, some really crappy hip hop played, I traveled elsewhere listening to some heavy FUCKING METAL.
Anyway, the whole idea about this latest series is about life and death, and the spirit world. or whatever.
The music made me want to get way better at guitar, and find some musicians that would be into it. In kamloops i've never really had luck jamming with other people, because they can't see past their reality that whatever we create will ever be anything more than just jamming. But when i go to other major cities, i find a groove instantly with other musicians and jam like mad!
Musically and creatively my time will come, at least, that's the hope/dream right? ha ha!
I've been playing guitar for over 20 years, and have had peaks and valleys in my technical abilities, and I don't plan on stopping, it'll just take time finding the right people to create heavy/weird music with I guess.
In the meantime lovers, I'll be thinking of you often,
CB
