re: march madness.....

hello friends, foe, fans and lovers,

hope all is well with you in this new year, life is good, i've now joined the ranks of the teetotalers, and it's been a few weeks now and i feel healthy and great. if anyone can get carried away with a good time, it's me! haha. so because i've been sick for so long, i put two and two together and realized, if i cleaned up my act, i'd get better, and it's working. problem solved. in fact, i feel quite normal, not super human and crazed,  just regular art guy doing his thing.

over the years, i've been on the road back and forth across the country, i realized early on, it's so boring without good friends. not that i haven't made GREAT friends in my travels, but sometimes, you see your mates struggling for a break, and you offer that olive branch and for whatever reason, they just don't take it. it's heartbreaking, but you gotta just let it go and soldier on, so it was a nice surprise that a buddy of mine is ready to step up and take on the art world. we had coffee recently, and he said he appreciated the fact i tried so diligently to get him to hit the road, but he wasn't ready he said, and didn't have his shit together. i laughed and said i never did either, but destiny flings you into the chaos sometimes, and you just gotta go with it. anyways, he's ready for it, and i can't wait until good things start happening for him. you can't force people into things, they've got to do it themselves. if they make mistakes and crash and burn, that's part of the process and all you can hope is they get back up and try again. success or so called "success" does not come without it's trials and tribulations, but it's great to have a little victory now and then to keep you hungry.

so, okay, i lied about not feeling super great, i do, and have more energy and clear thoughts than i've had in ages, and i'm out and about doing street art, which is great to get fresh air, and see what others are doing on the walls in this community. i can't wait to hit the road and do it elsewhere. traveling is so good for the soul, at least mine, if i am still for too long, i start to go crazy. it's funny once you get into graffiti, you start looking at walls differently, you start looking at the lines of a wall piece differently, and when you start experimenting with different paints, depending on your budget, it really open your eyes. my appreciation for street art is off the charts right now, because it's winter time here in kamloops, and people are still hitting walls! it's fcuking cold out! haha!

not only that, there's a $500 fine if you get caught, which to me, is a lot of paint money, and because Kamloops has criminalized graffiti, it's been pushed into dangerous places, just like the drug trade. obviously, the war on drugs hasn't won anyone any victories, so why do the same with graffiti? a lot of great graffiti is being done in horribly and dangerously accessible places, which pisses me off, because some kids will get or killed just to do some street art.

you can't bottle or explain that rush of doing graffiti, you just have to do it, and experience it for yourself.

well lovers, i gotta go, my birthday is on the 27, and i've got to post at least 17 times this month, so i've got a lot of art to make.

until next time,
