re: post-colonial setting.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

it is week 9 of my video series promoting "A moon made of copper," and i have a book launch in my home town of Kamloops, BC.

i think hometown gigs are the toughest, because everyone is used to you and your schtick and i think take it for granted in some ways. "oh he's here, he'll be here next week," and so on. i did that once, when i was living in Austin, Texas and seeing Stevie Ray Vaughn. i was in Austin for just over a year and caught SRV in a show, but way too briefly and then he was gone. that haunts me to this day.

plus, people always want things for free at hometown gigs, hahaha, of which, i have nothing, because i can barely afford to pay attention these days. haha.

anyway, here's a no-frills video for this week, I've got to go put up posters for the reading and get some media love, which means this no make up video. hahahaha. kidding.

it's for the poem "post-colonial setting," on page 73 of my new book "A moon made of copper."

enjoy!

cheers,

chris bose.

re: a clear day

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

we're on a clear day, the skies are vast and wide, the air is crisp and clean, and i've already gone for a brisk walk before the beautiful light hit the rest of the sleeping people.

i'll try to get out and make the most of my day, i hope you do as well. i've been wondering lately or perhaps for years, what i might have been in a past life. likely someone who was on the sea. i feel landlocked and love being near the sea.

what about you?

in the meantime, here's some more art. get out there, make the most of your day. who knows when the last one is around the corner?

until another time,

re: new art.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

some new/old art, i cleaned out my computer at the beginning of this year and stumbled across over 50 new and unpublished art works that i did 2 years ago and never published. which means this is what i'll be doing for awhile, as well as making new art.

it's part of a tarot card series i started and need to finish, or maybe i'll create my own new game. we'll see, i hope you dig them, feel free to offer feedback.

until next time,

cb

re: a new show for my youtube channel

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i've started a new project for my youtube channel, called "the gear box," and it's guitar geek stuff. but it's fun and cheesy, i wanted to keep it light, but also it's my first time in front of the camera, rather than behind it. so, there's a bit of a demystification process going on here for you, in that people finally get to see me and what i'm really like, which may shock and disappoint some of you in case you were hoping for a mad, sad psychopath. haha. i'm a bit of a ham. i don't really take myself seriously, but i take what i do creatively seriously. this is something to blow off some steam and have fun and whatnot.

send me some feedback on it!

until next time,

cb.

re: classical music and new art.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i'm back on the blog and my youtube channel, working like mad on new projects i suppose. it's mid-winter here where i live and the sky is eternally grey and blah, unless it gets freezing cold, -10 or more and then it's beautiful out, blue skies and no clouds. i'd rather have that then this endless dreary grey. it makes me depressed i think, i think i suffer a bit from depression in the first place, mildly, not the super intense, soul paralyzing type, but i can feel rather melancholy this time of year.

it doesn't get light until 8 am and starts to get dark around 4 pm, so with the grey skies and short days, i'm surprised more people aren't depressed. haha? i'm trying something new, listening to some classical music in the morning, today is day one and so far so good, today i'm listening to string quartet's by Hayden. i found a site that lets you download them, because they're public domain, i'll use some for graffiti art films, haha, instead of the usual hip hop or metal music, we'll start them out with classical instead. haha

anyway, i'm immersing myself in new creative endeavours to keep my mind focused and hopefully sharp, so here's some new-ish art.

i suppose i'm publishing this particular piece of art because of what happened in paris yesterday, or was it the day before? 12 people were shot and kill at "Charlie Hebdo," a newspaper that specialized in political, cultural and religious satire. the 12 were killed by 3 nut jobs proclaiming to do it for allah and islam. of course islamist leaders denounced such horrible acts and these three, now down to two, are on their own. the world is such a messed up place. killing people over cartoons? really?

we cannot let tyranny or oppression push us down and we cannot live in fear any longer, we have been forever already! question authority, religious or political and thinking for yourself is the only way out of here, to change this already oppressive system that's already rigged and set up for the super elite and wealthy in the first place!!?!

already there is massive memorials around the world for the artists, editors and security died
trying to save them from three madmen with guns.

we cannot live in fear.

re: new video poem!

hello friends, fans foe and lovers,

i hope all is well in your world and hope you have had a great new years and christmas holidays, mine was pretty good, as always, trying to figure out the business of art, life and everything in between that's important. there is no manual or guidebook that works for this journey, and often some of us, or perhaps many of us make horrible mistakes, bad choices, and do silly things. as i get older i realize opportunities come less often than when i was younger and am determined to make the most of however much time i've got on this planet.

the adventures have been good, and i've succeeded more than i ever imagined, 3 books published, umpteen albums i've written, recorded and produced of music, music videos, films, documentaries, plus the whole art thing, murals, paintings, exhibitions and more. it's crazy. this past couple years since i've taken an important break on digital art, there have been amazing opportunities to paint on walls and galleries across canada, i think at least 5 provinces and as many if not more cities.

so, i'm trying to sort out how to proceed in 2015, and sort out what i want to do, where i want to go and how i want to get there. what about you? what are your plans for the new year? what do you want to do? accomplish? i wish you the best in your goals and dreams.

until next time, here's my new video poem for my new book "A moon made of copper," and it's called "The Illusionist," and can be found on page 18.

cheers,

cb
