re: portrait.....

hello friends, fiends, fans, foe, winners, sinners and lovers,

i present to you. a portrait. of yours truly.

sorry, no duckface, no photo of me posing in front of a bathroom mirror, or trying to look hot in a group photo. just weird old me.

this was taken at the gulf island film and television school (G.I.F.T.S.)  by my buddy nic. thanks dude. it was an awesome time.

and G.I.F.T.S. is one of the most amazing places on earth. i usually mentor there every october for the first nations film program. come see me. i'll help you make an amazing film.

re: new things.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

it's been an insane month. i curated "official denial: the art of the apology" a show in kamloops, bc, at arnica artist run centre. it features the art of Adrian Stimson, Cease Wyss, Bracken Hanuse Corlett, and Tania Willard. it runs until sept 15.

then i was in Ottawa, Ontario for about 10 days. give or take.

then i programmed the Nkemcin: Voices of the Valley festival with the awesome Nacoma George of Crazy Cutz records and it kicked mighty ass. totally fun day/evening with Niska Napoleon, Garrett Stevens, Blackout Artists and Skookum Soundsystem. Graham How rocked the sound like a professional and it was all sponsored by the Cooksferry Indian Band, big shout out to David Walkem, not too mention the staff and Council of the band for helping making it happen!

then i was on Galiano Island at the Gulf Islands Film and Television School, or G.I.F.T.S helping out with 5 films in 6 days. i met great new friends and had an amazing time. i love that place.

and now i'm recording 8 new songs, making new art, and preparing for a new workshop series with the Arbor Collective in Kamloops as well as plotting next years activities and events.

plus i'm on my own, my own place and i'm fucking stoked and happy as all can be about it.

which is probably why i'm firing on all cylinders again.

anyway, i'll be posting a shitload of photos and posters accordingly.

peace out y'all, and thanks for coming.

re: disgowski. viva.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i hope you are well, and life is treating you well.

everything is picking up nicely, and i'm stoked. but, you know, i wonder if i should have been an investment banker, made a hundred million, and then dedicated my life to anarchy and art. at least that way i would have had the cash to do it proper.

sigh.

it's sort of a gamble, what i'm doing, betting the show and everything in my life on the potential lie of success, instead of planning for it proper. sigh. but, i'm now on the path i've chosen, and at this point, all i can do is give'r.

as always, i'm going to continue to slog it out, and work on new art projects.

there are tricks up my sleeve, but i can't tell you anything. haha.

all the bets lovers,

re: galiano island and G.I.F.T.S.

hello friends, fans, foe, and lovers,

been on galiano 8 days or so, and it's been fun, leaving in a few days, back to high desert country and some rest. we've got five film projects on the go, and it's been awesome and intense. the kids have been great, but i feel like a bit of a geezer! haha, and it just ain't all in your mind! it's your body, the aches and pains! running, jumping, climbing crazy locations and sets!

anyways, we were just chilling out last night to a huge bonfire and started playing with long exposure shots in total darkness with the flash going off randomly!

here's my epic photograph!

until next time,

my daughter, whom i miss very much when i'm on the road.
this is a couple years ago, and i've missed a lot being away.

until next time,

re: galiano island and G.I.F.T.S.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i'm down at Galiano Island right now, working at the Gulf Islands Film and Television School....it's my 3 year being here as a mentor and i love it and look forward to it every year. This place has a vibe, the island, the school, the people here, and it's not to be missed if you ever get the chance to get here, do it! What I do is mentor First Nations youth during their Aboriginal Film Intensive, which is 2 weeks every Fall, but I also believe they do a Summer course as well, you should totally check it out.

We're in the middle of scriptwriting right now, and will begin production today and for the next several days, and editing next week. It's great, the only distraction is the beauty of the island, which is immense.

Keep ya posted kiddies!

re: time passes.........

galiano inspired new art i worked on........
the ultimate little hippy pad i'd love to live in.......

Here's some new art, i've been trying to load ALL week but couldn't find a computer to do it properly.....and the coolest house i'd love to live in.....i think i'm a bit of a hippy in that way, that i could live in a little cool shack like that and be totally happy........instead of paying the outrageous rent i pay right now for a place i'm never even at most of the time......anyways, there's also a couple photos of THE most amazing sunrise i have seen in a while, on the North end of Galiano Island, Dionisio Park......wow, words fail me......and i was there with some cool peeps......Tee Louttit, Deek Rodgers, Chuck Walkem, Julian Maree, and yours truly........the road is an amazing place, traveling, making art, films and writing, plus being able to collaborate with other great people is one of the main reasons why i take this open journey.......seeing incredible places, having great times, and living instead of existing........
until next time friends, foe, lovers, haters, and the like,

re: on ze road again.........

hello friends, fans, lovers, foe, and the like......
i'm on galiano island, mentoring at the GIFTS school
one of my favourite places to be....
because you meet a lot of cool people
like minded people
people who want to make a difference
who want to make films
and it is an environment of collaboration
and ideas shared
and knowledge shared
and it's good for the soul
ultimately

my blog as of late has been a travel blog
but that happens, i'm on the road
all the time now
and little time to create art
because sometimes
no often times
you have to experience life
in order to continue to create art
and right now
i'm experiencing life
and the art is percolating always
just beneath the surface

so worry not friends
i'll be back at it soon enough
refreshed and revitalized
after a summer of being fed upon
by malicious energy suckers.

until next time
i'll bring you my love

cheers,

cb
