re: new video poem for the book "Stone the Crow."

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here's a new video poem called "Tonight," on page 30 in my book "Stone the Crow," published by Kegedonce Press. I hope you enjoy it, it's meant more as a visualizer video, with water from the Thompson river flowing beneath the now gone bridge in Spences Bridge, BC.

I wrote the music a week or so ago and thought it fit the water theme perfect, so here you go, enjoy!

until next time,

Chris Bose.
ps: this is my 17th video poem!

re: new poems

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here is a new poem, i've begun working on a new series of writing that i may or may not publish some time down the road as a book. we'll see what happens. it is funnier poetry i think, mainly because i feel better and at peace with things in my life. or trying to at least, understand things in life and cosmos and to just let them be instead of trying to control them or be frustrated by them.

anyhow, here's a new poem for your consideration:

The party is over:
It hurts where I used to play
I’ve become invisible
To women of a variety
Of ages
As I let myself go
Here and there
Spilling out of my shirt
And sides
My orgasm sounds have become
My pissing sounds
Whereas a few years ago
I was enjoying the field
Now I enjoy watching
Marathon episodes
Of new comedies or
Action thriller series
I no longer think
About relationships
Or maybe “this one will work”
Or anything like that
I don’t want to share my time
With anyone anymore
Time is precious
I don’t want to learn to deal
with idiosyncrasies
Or live with anyone
Or listen to their bullshit
Or neurosis

No I’m content to putter
About my home
Make art
Play guitar
And parent my children
As I prepare
To enter the third quarter of my life
I’m cool with it.

re: all i know is this.....

hello friends, fiends, fans, foe and lovers,

here's my new video poem called, "All I know is this...." and it's from my new book, "A moon made of copper," published by Kegedonce Press.

it was filmed last year in spences bridge, bc, lytton, bc, botanie valley and stein valley bc.

this part of my new challenge, goal of making a film a week and uploading online here and various other social network platforms.

i recently lost my youngest brother to cancer, the day after he died i quit drinking and made a commitment to improve my own health. part of that commitment is getting back into a creative frame of mind and continue pushing boundaries and to challenge myself. over the years i've gotten jaded as fuck, kind of tired and miserable. i felt trapped once again. but these days, i'm feeling good, and moving beyond feeling trapped to, "how do i escape?" haha.

i want to go to europe and play shows, have exhibitions, do readings, go to music festivals and perform in front of tens of thousands of people. how does one get there? lots of hard work. i lost sight of this trapped in my own prison, in my own mind. but i'm ready now to giver and take no prisoners. life is short. live it hard and live it good, who knows what happens afterwards?

until next time lovers,

chris bose.

re: the ace of spades.......

hello winners, sinners, lovers and losers,

a short commercial break to promote my book, "The Apology," which came out last year and was published by the Unit/Pitt Gallery in Vancity, in conjunction with an exhibition i had called, you guessed, "The Apology." It is a book of poetry juxtaposed with the Indian Act and the actual apology by Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper to the First Nations, Inuit and Metis people of Canada for the horrors of the Residential School and Colonialism.

He's been working diligently ever since to exterminate us. So, here's a book about it. It's $15 and i could use the cash lovers, so buy one for yourself and your friends. contact me via my email: chrisbose1@yahoo.ca

Too metal.
I love that Lemmy is a tank, and they all headbang

re: new old writing.....

My name is Chris Bose, I am a Nlaka’pamux Aboriginal living in the city,in a world I did not create nor chose to participate, yet here I am sometimes alone and sometimes with friends, lovers, family, enemies and everyone else in between. Somehow I am supposed to make sense of it all, to live, to survive, to function in an appropriate manner and overcome not only the obstacles I have faced in my own lifetime, but also the baggage of racism, crime, injustice that Aboriginal people have faced for centuries.

I am an Indian, chug, a drunk and a host of other horrible names that the dominant culture has so carelessly sentenced me with, and these words are a document of my existence in that society. I know that the vast majority of my people will die in the same economic caste that they are born, so very few of us escape the cell created for us.

The system is not created for liberty and justice for all, but rather it really is for those who can afford it, or rather those who can perpetuate it because true liberty has not been experienced on this land since before Columbus landed in the Caribbean. Now, I must ask you, do these terrible words and the way that I am treated in my own country prove that I am real or is it all a horrible nightmare and I really time-traveling in a Shamanic ritual?

In this collection of words that are not my tongue, I talk about my servant reality and the world around me. In this document, I also talk about my loved ones, Christina is my schma-am, or rather, my wife, and we have a newborn son. Be patient, because this is how I am going to start it, in medias res, and there is nothing you can do about it.

I stare out the window and notice there is a grey sky above us and a frozen earth below us, yet no one seems to mind or notice this, and I want to escape it all, but I do not know how to just yet. The girl downstairs is doing her dishes again, I swear she does them five times a day and three times a night, usually every two to three hours in this ghost apartment building - it must be nice to be that dedicated to having a clean apartment.

Christina just woke up from a nap with our son and I wonder how much longer we can continue to hold out against the hunger, the poverty and the desperation. I pray for the ability to move to another place that will be kinder to artists, musicians and writers. Where is this mystical place and how much longer do we have to wait to get there, to find it, to know of it’s glory and triumph?

Perhaps we will never find it, perhaps we are not meant to find paradise on earth, or Shangri-La, because as human beings we still have so many basic problems to overcome. I mean we are concerned with more superficial aspects of existence as opposed to why we are really here, then again, those reasons seem as lost as we do in our lives.

When commerce and looking good are the most important things in a society, everything else tends to fall by the wayside and that civilization begins its hasty retreat into debauchery and decadence. The cadence has been heard time and time again, it is a symphony of destruction accompanied by a hymn of flies, a roar of flame and the lastly the downpour of purity. Basically, I assume we are doomed to fall, to crash upon the shores of reality destitute and destroyed, to become a pale vision of what we once were and capable of becoming.

So, based on that knowledge or assumption, I guess we would probably pave over anything and set up shopping center no matter how sacred, so if there is any sort of paradise left unspoiled, I know it would be better if we never found it. For I am certain that it would not be too long before there were tacky tourist shops set up with shirts for sale that said, “I went to paradise and all I got was this lousy T shirt,” and various other industries developed around the raw, unspoiled beauty. The water would be bottled, the forests would be cut and the hills demolished or divided into lots for development, because this is how we think now, and the soul is a conquered land for business and encouraging growth is good for the bank account and investors.

Anyway, last night Christina and I were talking and she blurted out that she couldn’t take being so poor much longer that she was reaching her limits.
God knows that I couldn’t blame her, since we had been destitute for so long that it was finally wearing down the last of our frayed nerves. Our life was so unlike what those good natured people who had forgotten what suffering was really like and continue to say that strife builds character. It was no longer quaint or challenging, instead, it was just one long drawn out march to the gallows every morning and we couldn’t take it much longer. Dying everyday, just a bit, not enough to forget it all and start anew.

So every single day it was destined for us to wake and stare out the same window again and again. I too had grown so weary of living life dime to dime and nickel to nickel, it had been so long since we had a flood of good fortune. I was not sure what to do any longer, and I had no one to turn to for advice, for wisdom, which made life one long trial, the interrogation had turned into torture, and it would only be a matter of time until I broke. Just what was left to give remained debatable, I had pursued every vice and quit out of health and boredom. Perhaps it was time to turn the tables and go ultra-capitalist, but this was unlikely, since also lacking a father figure, I also was shit out of luck in the maternal department for any sort of employment connections or guidance. I mean unless I wanted to do something other than get drunk every night and hone down my mind into a sliver of comprehension and awareness.

Basically, what this all boils down to was an empty pot, and it was something I had to realize and decide to fill the feast myself instead of waiting for someone to fill it or guide me to a source of more food. I realized that no one was going to do this, not even in my own family, and so I had to persevere to find a way to get out of this barren landscape of lost opportunities and burned dreams. Behind me, as I wrote this, the sky turned ablaze as the sun began to ascend over the horizon and I knew I had one more opportunity to set my world afire and get it right.

Curiously, as the red blew away the rest of the blackness, the street below our apartment suddenly became busy with people, and I wondered if the beauty of nature was somehow, supposed to be seen by a lot of people this morning. I wondered what they thought as they witnessed something inspiring and miraculous, the whole sky turned red and orange, chasing away the ghosts of the night with the blazing light of the dawn. Sooner or later I would get it right, just as the rest of humanity might get it together someday. How much longer we had was up for debate, and I knew the meter was running, but all I had to pay for it was spare change and bad credit.

adios,

cb

re: crucifix in a death hand.....redux.....

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

ahhhh, life is temporarily good. looking back on last year, a ton of hardship, lessons lost, lived and learned, and whatever the hell cliche you wanna throw on the fire. i survived and never want to go through anything like it again. i'm getting too fcuking old for such brutal struggle, strife and hardship.

plus, i've got too many kids and i gotta get preparing for their future.

argh, agh, spleck, the thing called "responsibility" is a fcuker. goddamnit.

anyway, i've been strolling down memory lane and thought i'd post a couple old images.

enjoy.

cb

a drawing i did in high school
wow, i wasn't always a fcuking hack.
i'm not fishing for compliments, but damn!
that drawing is TIGHT!

yours truly circa 2006.
now i'm fat elvis. haha.

Some old morbid pomes. what the fcuk was i going through to write such stuff? yeesh. i'm much happier these days. life is good.

Death rattles:
I hear them at night
Calling me like wolves
And I crawl out of bed
And step onto a floor of black widows
Gently I pick up a handful
Wincing in pain as they bite
Eating one after another
Black bulbuous sacks of poison exploding
Red In my mouth

In the next room are piles of black scorpions

And I feel them jab at my feet it’s like walking over beds

Of cactus

I feel tired
And keep moving into the next room full of soft
Pink worms

Here I collapse as scorpions crawl on my face and worms

Shudder beneath me

I can see out the window

At one lonely star in the night sky
I feel a scorpion climb
Into my mouth and it stabs away at my soft red flesh
Everything fades to black
As I crash crying out of some woman’s womb
trapped to begin this deadly cycle again.

If you fear dying:

A crow sows my eyes shut

While a cougar licks my arms and torso

A thick velvety tongue slurping against me

I pray that I can see her insane letters one more time
So when I go
I know it was all worth it
And I wasn’t wrong
And I wasn’t a coward
As I laid my body down
In the soft dewy grass
Feeling the sun bleach my rib bones
While coyotes tear at the flesh
I hear bears fucking in the distance
A full moon
A sharp knife
A decidedly dumb way to go
But I can feel her move beneath me
The mother of all
Pumping and pulsing
One more day
As I grin a broken jawed skeleton grin
Laughing a silent laugh as crows peck at my eyes
And I know it was worth it every penny
To go like this again.

Death is a museum:
My body stares up at the lights
Glowing as some guy tugs at the flesh
With a scalpel
We have never met
We have never talked
We never will reminisce about the past
Or old hockey games
Concerts or drunken stories
He just diligently cuts away
At my chest
And breaks out the bone saw
While his hand moves across memories
A past
A lover’s caress
A kiss
Long forgotten
Tube suck out my blood
As he scoops my stomach
Intestines, lungs and other organs
I stare down at my body
And scream at him
That I am not dead
And this is all just a bad dream
As he begins cutting open my skull
A light spills across the room
And I think of my children.

The sun is tangled like death in black branches:
Crows dance on the wind
Ravens dance on the bones
I smell the sagebrush and taste the dirt
Handful upon handful
As I fall off the cliff
Towards a red earth
Screaming every profanity I know
Cursing everyone who has cut their names
Across my chest and back
Arms and legs
Flames erupt across the sky
And I drink gasoline
Waiting to explode
Before I realize I’m already dead
Sitting at my desk
Answering a phone and taking a message
While behind me a coyote laughs
A wheezing, gasping laugh
I cock a rifle
Put it towards my right eye
And pray all I need is one good eye
To find my way through
The spiritworld
And no one is waiting for me.

I the resurrector of the dead:
I cock the gun
And put it into my mouth
Sweat pours down my forehead
I think of a thousand different things
And wonder if I’m doing the right thing
But I know there is no other way
Out of this situation
She calls my name from the bed
And this distracts me
I should have known better

I think of flying
And staring at the ground
From 36000 feet
Sipping a beer and feeling it tingle
Across my tongue

She calls my name again
And I stretch my body like a hide
Waiting to be tanned
Under a hot sun
And sharp knife

I have fought countless wars
And the medals are stitched
Across my chest again and again for no reasons other than stupidity.

Fuck Death:
I crawl from another womb
One more time
Spitting out afterbirth and placenta
Again
Disgusted at this ritual over and over
Until I know I get it right

I don’t cry this time
And the doctor shakes me
And spanks me
And I put my finger in my mouth
Bored

Confused
He hands me to her
And I suckle at a breast
One more time
Trying to remember the last time I was here
And how I got it all wrong
And fucked up enough
To end up
Here one more time

Waiting and wanting
The secrets of the universe
And to be pure light escaping this hideous place one last time fuck death.

re: new writing......

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here's some new writing, enjoy.

10:03 P.M. Poverty strikes you again and again like a cobra.
I’m still awake, which is pretty amazing, but I’ll be sleeping soon, because it’s these long days that are sure get to you when you’re not ready. I’m not sure what’s worse, working all the time or not working all the time and expecting money to fall out of the sky into your waiting hands. Poverty is a rich man driving you mad by whispering into your ears all the secrets of life and poverty is what wakes you in the middle of the night and you realize you are starving but have no food.
All of the nightmares pounding in your head to the steady rhythm of your heartbeat, that is what poverty is, rolling out the monsters, the ghosts and all your dark nights one by one forever. Poverty is a needle in the gutter and you collecting cans, counting pennies and thinking about all the money you’ve ever wasted on cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and stupid purchases.
I know poverty is losing all those years in bars, strip clubs and in houses high on drugs or the time lost waiting to score drugs. Poverty is still the rich man in your head, screaming at you about what a failure you are and to get up and out of bed and to get a job.
Poverty is waking up after a particularly bad night and wondering where all that time goes in the midst of a black out. When you look in the mirror and are not certain of who is staring at you, let me tell you that you can be rest assured it is poverty. In a world of excess knowing a few truths makes all the difference, but not being able to do anything about it but swim with the current and let the sour taste of lies burn like gasoline, that is poverty.
Watching your parents beat one another is another form of poverty and wondering what life is all about as it burns away all around you is even more poverty. Lost at the racetrack after betting your last dollar and losing, then coming home hungry and nothing to take away the pain, that is poverty.
Alone in the city and pills for breakfast is nothing poverty. Feeling nothing towards death, that is poverty, and the absence time is further evidence of poverty. When you burn like fire and are violent and/or emotional when under the influence, someone better tell you what poverty is all about.
Again, poverty is the rich man who runs the world by a machine, holds every dream in a vault and counting each second as a heartbeat and each minute as a lifetime, gone, sold, bartered away by the hour until the end of time. But that is life kid, and you better get fucken used to it, you hear me?

well, i hope that hurt as much is it did to me.
