re: made.

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

ah, the world of blogging. ah, the world of art. such strange worlds indeed. i pretty much forget other people see this blog, all over the world really. to me, it's sort of an online diary, a confessional, a way for me to make sense of the world around me by sharing my art, my thoughts, my rants and things i love or find randomly on the internet.

i'm a social loner, meaning, what i do for a living is both very private, i create my stuff mostly by myself, and then, i do exhibitions, or conferences, or workshops, or whatever it takes to pay the bills. this thrusts me into the public, and communication is key while i'm in the rest of the world. when i'm done, i retreat to the safety and solitude of my mancave and hide from the world and make more art. whatever that may be.

i also get to travel, which is great, because you learn so much by traveling i think, and it's stupid to fly over the sea to places like india, or europe when you know jack shit about your country. posers.

anyway, i've got art and stuff to make, i'm curating a couple shows, and trying diligently to get the Arbor Aboriginal Artists Collective off the ground here in the 'loops. not too mention finding a delicate balance between dealing with my battleaxe of an X to see our kids without getting my balls busted. sigh. it's exhausting but what're you gonna do? not much, deal with it, soldier on and get'r done.

until next lovers,

cb

wtf?

who says taggers can't get along?

re: older but a gooder.....

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

re: new adventures....

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here's some photos from more adventures. i love graffiti, so i go check it out and document it as much as possible. a society without street art, is a society without rebellion. and in reality, or whatever reality may be, we've been writing on walls for at least 30,000 years. so, it's in our blood as a people, and blood memory is powerful.

anyways, check out the images below and enjoy.

cheers,

cb

peterson creek bridge.

the urban legends are true
apparently, you can go inside the bridge.

this guy gets better and better.
people hate him in town,
i think he's good.
up close, the work is flawless.

this guy is a hack, but getting better.

monsters under the bridge.

the view from there.

i didn't go into the tunnel that goes into the bridge, because i was alone, and the last thing i needed was to run into a bunch of C.H.U.D.S. but who knows? it's crazy the access.

cheers,

re: new writing......

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here's some new writing, enjoy.

10:03 P.M. Poverty strikes you again and again like a cobra.
I’m still awake, which is pretty amazing, but I’ll be sleeping soon, because it’s these long days that are sure get to you when you’re not ready. I’m not sure what’s worse, working all the time or not working all the time and expecting money to fall out of the sky into your waiting hands. Poverty is a rich man driving you mad by whispering into your ears all the secrets of life and poverty is what wakes you in the middle of the night and you realize you are starving but have no food.
All of the nightmares pounding in your head to the steady rhythm of your heartbeat, that is what poverty is, rolling out the monsters, the ghosts and all your dark nights one by one forever. Poverty is a needle in the gutter and you collecting cans, counting pennies and thinking about all the money you’ve ever wasted on cigarettes, drugs, alcohol, and stupid purchases.
I know poverty is losing all those years in bars, strip clubs and in houses high on drugs or the time lost waiting to score drugs. Poverty is still the rich man in your head, screaming at you about what a failure you are and to get up and out of bed and to get a job.
Poverty is waking up after a particularly bad night and wondering where all that time goes in the midst of a black out. When you look in the mirror and are not certain of who is staring at you, let me tell you that you can be rest assured it is poverty. In a world of excess knowing a few truths makes all the difference, but not being able to do anything about it but swim with the current and let the sour taste of lies burn like gasoline, that is poverty.
Watching your parents beat one another is another form of poverty and wondering what life is all about as it burns away all around you is even more poverty. Lost at the racetrack after betting your last dollar and losing, then coming home hungry and nothing to take away the pain, that is poverty.
Alone in the city and pills for breakfast is nothing poverty. Feeling nothing towards death, that is poverty, and the absence time is further evidence of poverty. When you burn like fire and are violent and/or emotional when under the influence, someone better tell you what poverty is all about.
Again, poverty is the rich man who runs the world by a machine, holds every dream in a vault and counting each second as a heartbeat and each minute as a lifetime, gone, sold, bartered away by the hour until the end of time. But that is life kid, and you better get fucken used to it, you hear me?

well, i hope that hurt as much is it did to me.

re: i fcuking love painting on walls...

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

i just found this somewhere online and loved it so much, thought i'd post it for you.

anyway, aside from that, i'm well, and i'm watching that film "Crazy Heart," with Jeff Bridges in 2009. Man, that was me in 2010, just a fcuking trainwreck, and yet somehow i pulled off that year. I paid for it though, 2011 was dead, nothing happening really, well, that's not true, but when you go from being on the road 160 days or more a year, to about 30, it's dead. i think i only went back east 2 times, in 2010 i think i went back east about 20 times.

now i'm back and feeling fine, teetotal, working hard, got a lot of fun projects on the go, and life is good, i need to hit it, and hit it hard.

Well, i've got some work to do, keep in touch,

cheers,

CB

re: crushing rebel scum starts with coffee.....

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

crushing rebel scum starts off right in the morning, with a decidedly good cup of coffee from my "Elite Swine Inc." cup and an extra dark coffee, black like my heart.

i bid to you a good day, and help stomp out the alliance......anyway you can........

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!

re: more art.

hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

here is some new art, i love the way people try to minimize what i do when they are jealous, "oh it's photoshop art," or, "oh, photomontage stuff, huh?" like it's that easy to do. a lot of my art is visual metaphors for the 7 deadly sins, or filled with heavy occult symbolism, or historical symbolism, and it's the culmination of 2 decades of art knowledge coursing through my veins. i don't just "whip" these off, some take a very long time to do, and some don't, just like painting or other more traditional means of artwork. i shudder to think what people said to Carl Beam's face when he was doing his stuff, which was greatly influential on my work. i just took it in other directions.

anyways, i'm busy as hell, and i like it.

the boom is here, so time to hit it.

all the bets,

cb

My work.

Carl Beam's work.

I think we're on the same continuum.

ps: he's doing the "Metal" sign.

re: dreams.....

Hello friends, fans, foe and lovers,

it's funny how sometimes dreams we have can be stolen, or we let them go, and time and destiny move onward, cold and merciless. I spent a lot of time in an Intensive Care Unit last week watching and visiting my dad, Chris Bose II. Yes, I am the Chris Bose III, sounds kind of heinous haha!? Anyway, i watched a lot of people come and go in my life, my dreams rise and fall, the world around me loosen up, and then come crashing down. The main things i want to do are see my kids, and be there, be a good dad, the dad i never had. It's tough to do, because i NEVER had a father in my life, a stable one, a sane one, a secure one, instead it was always these abusive assholes my mother brought home from the bar.

I think part of whatever the hell i'm trying to figure out, has been to get off the sauce, if not forever, at least for awhile. The clarity is great, and i find it amazing that after all these years, i'm still able to do what i want instead of what society wants. This begs another question, what the fuck am i doing? haha! As Leonard Cohen once said, "Trying to maintain a certain grace with the world around me." We are told so many things growing up, don't do this, don't do that, this is good, this is bad, blah blah blah. More often than not, the good stuff is bad for you, and the world seems more crooked the longer you live and watch it spin around and around. The rich have always been in power, and the power is benefitting them, and part of that is maintaining the law and giving us a sense of powerlessness over our own lives. It's weird, and when you are outside of that role, you watch hundreds of people marching towards some oblivious doom and just accepting it. plus, being in an ICU where people are dying often, is kinda weird, hearing them flatline, the curtains drawn around the patient, the nurses and doctor's trying to revive the patient and them calling it just like in the movies. creepy. especially the weird silence after a person leaves this world. the room becomes painfully quiet.

ugh.

We were all young once, we all had dreams, and somewhere along the line, those dreams get crushed, and only a slim minority ever make those dreams come true. The rest of the world either falls in line and tows the line, or apparently, chaos and madness will reign. I'm a little skeptical aren't you?

Well, aside from that heavy naval gazing, i've got some alarming news for you, once you go past the Rocky Mountains and head Eastward across our great and strange country, you will notice that Vancouver pays a price for about 50,000 great coffee shops. That is there are NO DECENT coffee shops past the Rocky Mountains eastward, and you must suck it up and drink Tim Horton's, which is okay, but if you like a decent americano, or a strong dark coffee, good luck with that. Not to mention, when you actually enquire about a starbucks coffee shop or whatever, people look at you like you are a homosexual alien from another planet, with tentacles and slime all over you, asking them with a slight 'lisp' about "a decent coffee around here?"

So, either bring your own ground coffee and bodum, and like a junkie, boil up some water in your room and make your own coffee away from judging eyes. Trust me, you'll be happier, and feel less like a freak for wanting a decent cup of coffee. And since I'm a teetotaler these days, that's the one guilty pleasure i allow myself, strong coffee.

I guess what I'm saying is this: Vancity, share some of your coffee shops and baristas, send forth an army of coffee soldiers across the prairies to win over the hearts and minds of amateur coffee drinkers proving to them there are more options than disgusting watered down 24 hour gas station coffee (which tastes like tepid coffee flavoured perfume should smell or taste like?) and Tim Horton's coffee. Please.

Until later lovers, enjoy some more photos from the road,

CB

my phone takes alright photos. is this a matterhorn?

Downtown Regina, Saskatchewan.
Last time i was there i was amazed
at some of the architecture and the speed
with which they were knocking it down
for ugly glass towers. lame.

Calgary, Alberta, the needle tower in the distance
if you follow the powerlines inwards.

Hutterites and Mennonites
made into sculptures
in a Regina, Saskatchewan
mall downtown.
of course it wasn't natives.

another huge mansion in Brandon, Manitoba
it was seriously massive.
there's this street full of them.
of course i can't remember it now.

empty abandoned gas station in Brandon, Manitoba

Faces in graffiti
Kamloops, BC

cool graffiti i thought, as i was taking photos
a lady came up and asked if i did it
and i said "No," and asked her if she thought
it was graffiti or art?
She said it was illegal
and i said art is illegal?
that is a scary society to live in.
That shifted the conversation
i saw the light click on
and we had a great chat after that line
had been crossed.

the loops, i do love it here.
but it's a love/hate thing.
i often wonder what the fcuk i'm doing here.

I love graffiti.

hmmmm, familiar faces on walls
across canada.

hmmmm....

well boys and girls, i hope you dig those photos and the video, i'll post more later, sorry about the heavy navel gazing, life and death experiences tend to do that to a person.
