re: holidays and fatherhood

Notes from a dad 2 days before xmas:

Crusty eyes

Wake up at 5 am

The house is silent

Except for the streaming

Fireplace channel

Popping and crackling

First thought:

Its cold

And this soft

Fuzzy blanket

Is so warm

But

There are presents

To wrap

A kitchen to clean

And coffee to be had

Kitchen clean

And coffee by 6 am

Presents wrapped

By 6:30 am

Wondering what the kids

Are dreaming

About 6:35 am

Hearing them snore softly

And the soft clicks

Of my keyboard as I write this

6:45 am

time to watch

the fireplace channel.
